After 5 years of preparation the V&A will showcase over 100 iconic costumes from some of the most popular films of the past century.

Most costumes have never been on public display and have come out of the archives especially for this exhibition. Undoubtedly the highlight will be the white halter neck dress worn by Marilyn Monroe from one of the most iconic images in film.

The Hollywood Costume exhibition is now open at V&A London until 27th Jan 2013.

Marilyn Monroe, The Seven Year Itch (1955)

Keira Knightley, Atonement (2007)

Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast At Tiffany’s (1961)

John Travolta, Saturday Night Fever (1977)

Charlie Chaplin, In the Circus (1928)

Margiela meets H&M

Today Maison Martin Margiela finally unveiled the look book for their collaboration with H&M a week after release of the official ad campaign.

True to the brand, the range is full of deconstructed pieces including oversized coats, asymmetric dresses and boyish cuts. My personal favourites are the silver mirror ball leggings (£29.99) and fitted black blazer (£69.99).

The collection goes on sale 15th November in H&M stores.

Chanel’s Little Black Jacket exhibition arrives at the Saatchi Gallery in London today having toured New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

The exhibit curated by Karl Lagerfeld and former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld, is based on the book of the same name and features over 100 images shot by Karl himself of models, actresses and friends of the label.

Chanel have said the exhibit and book are to show “the versatility and timelessness of the iconic Chanel jacket through Karl Lagerfeld’s photographs.”

The exhibition runs until 28th October 2012.

Tom Ford embraced monochrome in his SS13 collection

Tom Ford embraced monochrome in his Spring/Summer collection

There are always so many trends to come out of fashion weeks that you never know where to start. But for me, one colour trend that stood out in the SS13 shows was how many designers used monochrome so prominently in their collections.

I loved how designers used this simple colour combo to reference so many eras, from the sixties (Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs), to the futuristic (Alexander Wang, Gareth Pugh) whilst others used it to simply make outfits look sexy, sophisticated and fresh.
