Isabella Blow

The late Isabella Blow

Before Lady Gaga and Daphne Guinness there was Isabella Blow! The original style chameleon and British icon who discovered designers Alexander McQueen and Julien McDonald as well as models Sophie Dahl and Stella Tennant. Today at Somerset House in London opened the ‘Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!’ exhibition to celebrate the life and fearless fashions of a woman who has inspired many of today’s style mavens.

On show are more than 100 pieces from her wardrobe which showcase her eclectic style and vivacious personality. Also on display are garments from some of the designers whose careers she nurtured from the start such as John Galliano’s couture dresses and Phillip Treacy’s incredible intricate hats which she was often seen wearing.

There is also a book based on the exhibition which will be a fantastic tome to add to your collection, as there is still so much to discover about this icon whose personal style and legacy is still relevant today.

‘Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!’ exhibition open 20th November 2013 until 2nd March 2014.

Antonio Berardi SS14 LFW

Antonio Berardi SS14LFW

The classic feminine evening dress was reinvented with this collection. Teamed with leather jackets, slicked back hair and bold red lips it showed this woman has attitude… and lots of it. .

Berardi moved into a new direction showing more relaxed and loose fitting outfits than ever before. He played with shape, the use of oversized or boxy jackets with fitted dresses worked well, as did the fitted tops with loose pants. There were some boyish pieces which retained there elegance through the use of delicate fabrics and pale pinks, reds and creams.

Never before has elegant and casual been merged so well into one.The whole collection was beautiful, wearable and styled very well, even if was a bit too pink for my liking.

The World of Dior

I recently went to the Dior exhibition currently showing at Harrods which delves into the secrets behind one of the worlds most luxurious fashion houses.

There was a video showing the construction of the Lady Dior handbag to the actual dresses worn by Jennifer Lawrence and Marion Cotillard at red carpet events on display.

You can read in-depth history about the iconic brand and it’s long standing relationship with Harrods. It is only a small pop up exhibition but there was so much on display and extremely interesting to see the beautifully constructed garments from the house over the years.

Les Miserables - World Premiere - WHO: Anne Hathaway

WORE: Givenchy

WHERE: Les Miserables, London premiere

Comment: Anne looks amazing! This dress gives her a silhouette reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour. The off the shoulder draping and neck detail give the gown a modern twist and the pearl studs add that extra bit of elegance to make it red carpet perfection.
